Fresh Ibizan produce from Mercat Nou

For those of you seeking an authentic Ibizan market to buy fresh fish, meat, fruit and veg, head to the Mercat Nou, around 10 minutes walk from the apartment.

They don't speak a word of English so have your guide book handy. Walk up to Carerra Catalunya via Vara de Rey – in the new town, near the Parc de la Paz.

Here are some directions from Google Maps.

First testimonial for 2014 summer season

Deborah Holton of Southsea, Hampshire, kindly sent us this testimonial about her stay in June, 2014:

Thank you for renting us your apartment.  Carl and I had a wonderful week in the sunshine, we enjoyed the Old Town immensely especially Dalt Vila and the market with its fresh produce .  I found Ibiza to be a truly beautiful place and the street where your apartment is situated was exactly as you described - quiet, precisely what we needed for a relaxing stay.  The apartment had everything we needed and the mattress was the perfect comfort after a great deal of walking around!  I will definitely recommend your apartment to friends and family, Carl and I hope to return for another trip in the near future.

New pictures of our Ibiza apartment

Our friends Dave and Louise came to stay at the apartment in May and took some great new shots with their posh camera. Thanks to both of you for making it look so beautiful!

Cheap summer flights are still available for Ibiza, but book soon!

In past years I have sometimes paid a fortune for London to Ibiza flights by forgetting to book until a few weeks before departure. So this year I decided to do things differently by booking in January for the year ahead.

Luckily, British Airways has flown all winter from London City airport. The other airlines serving Ibiza from the UK - Monarch, Thomson, Ryanair, Easyjet - all get started around Easter time.

I notice that BA are now serving Ibiza from Heathrow, which will be great for people living in West London. I think this shows how the demographic of visitors to Ibiza is shifting with more middle class people choosing the island for holidays which combine clubs, beaches and touring the countryside. The roads certainly seemed busier as we cycled around last summer.

If you use Martin's MoneySaver flight checker (old version) you can ask it to show cheap flights for the whole year. It is still possible to find return flights to Ibiza for under £100 during the summer months. Combine this with a stay at our apartment and you will have a competitively-priced holiday!

We are going to stay in February to check the apartment is looking good, and then returning for Easter in April and then in May with friends for the Ibiza Medieval Fair which is very atmospheric. Finally, we plan a trip in August to get a taste of the full summer experience.

Las Dalias - an original Ibiza hippy market and bar - publishes free magazine with great photography

There are some great Ibiza photographs and articles in this magazine which I have just discovered from Las Dalias which is also the new venue for the regular Tuesday Wax Da Jam, featuring Nightmares on Wax.

Testimonial from Summer 2013

After the winter break the island of Ibiza is, once again, ready to welcome the influx of sun and fun-seeking holidaymakers. One of our first guests of the season, Gabby Greet, sent this testimonial:

Bedroom with rear balcony
"Perfect, central location, right in the middle of the market with probably the best bags, cheapest clothes. I scouted round and ended up coming back to the stall right next to the apartment! The apartment itself is decorated beautifully, I loved the colourful throws and bathroom tiles, and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. Really good instructions of how to get there, would definitely recommend."

Wildlife in Ibiza - Ses Salines reserve video

The Ses Salines wildlife reserve is an amazing place. The Roman-era salt pans are still used and profitable today. It is also a haven for flamingos and a wide range of other birds. We went up there at Easter on our bikes and had a wonderful day. Found this video on the Telegraph site
